Switch apps with one letter

Tabbit is a native macOS app switcher. Hold Command, press Tab, then type the first letter of the app you want. Repeating a letter cycles through apps with the same initial.

Highlights

  • Jump directly to running apps by letter, including Pinyin initials for Chinese app names.
  • Keep using Tab, Shift–Tab, or the mouse whenever that feels faster.
  • Restore minimized windows and reopen apps such as Finder when needed.
  • Follow the system appearance, launch at login, and optionally hide the menu-bar icon.
  • Process switching locally without recording typed text or keeping a key log.

Requirements

Tabbit requires Apple Silicon, macOS 13 or later, and Accessibility permission so it can handle the app-switching shortcut. The signed and notarized build supports in-app updates.
